The data

What this site shows

A plain account of the dataset behind these pages: the Eurostat price level index table prc_ppp_ind, what its figures mean, and how many records are published here.

The dataset

The pages on this site reproduce observations from Eurostat table prc_ppp_ind, purchasing power parities: price level indices by analytical category. The measure named in the records is PLI_EU27_2020.

The index base

The records use the index base EU27_2020 = 100. A value of 100 means the price level equals the EU27 average; above 100 it is higher, below 100 lower.

The years covered

The rebuilt records cover 1995 to 2024, 30 annual periods.

The records

  • 29143 price level observations, each one a country or aggregate, an analytical category and a year.
  • 39 countries and aggregates.
  • 34 analytical categories.

Where to browse

Countries and aggregates lists every country and aggregate in the records with its observation count and its own page. Analytical categories does the same for the categories. A page for one country and one category shows that pair year by year.

What these pages do not do

No averages, no rankings and no index comparisons between entries are computed here. Each page prints the observations as Eurostat published them, with thousands separators and one decimal place as the only changes.
